We believe that the ascension of Christ Jesus demonstrated...
Short Hills (N.J.) Item
We believe that the ascension of Christ Jesus demonstrated the reality of the spiritual and the unreality of that which is termed material. Jesus said: "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh [matter] profiteth nothing."
As to the personal nature of God, Christian Science indicates that God is personal in an infinite sense, but not in a finite sense. This infinite idea of the Deity in Christian Science constitutes a concept which makes God universal; a God who is ever present and omnipotent; it takes away the limited thought of God. Christian Science teaches that Christ Jesus had at all times mastery over evil and sickness, and shows that the same Principle destroys them both. It further teaches that Christians must gain dominion over all error through an understanding of the teachings of Christ Jesus, and a life lived in conformity therewith. It is not taught in Christian Science that a blind belief in the personality of Jesus will save us.
