Sincere and heartfelt gratitude impels me to tell others what Christian Science has done for me and my family. Five years ago it found me ill and full of sorrow. I had suffered for seven years with a severe trouble in the back; neither medical treatment, nor massage, baths, etc., brought relief. I then heard of Christian Science, and immediately had great faith in this teaching. I asked for treatment, and when I was told that God did not want me to suffer, a heavy load dropped from me, for up to that time I had borne it all, believing that God had inflicted it upon me. After the first treatment the pain that troubled me most disappeared, and in three months' time I was completely healed. I was also healed of a so-called inherited stomach and liver complaint, as well as of blood-poisoning in the left hand.

My husband was healed through Christian Science of a serious affection of the lungs and kidneys, also of peritoneal inflammation. My oldest daughter afflicted with a disease of the eyes, but was entirely healed in three months. We have overcome many other physical ailments through the understanding gained by the wonderful teachings of Christian Science. Christian Science has helped us under many circumstances, and this surely would be reason enough for being thankful all one's life, yet at times these benefits seem small to me compared with what I have received spiritually. I have been studying Science and Health for the past three years, and although I did not know one word of English I began to translate it word for word with the help of a dictionary. The love for this task, and the ardent desire to gain more and more of the glorious truth and a better understanding of God, helped me to go on faithfully and patiently step by step, so that today I am able to read and understand well the textbook.

The truth which I have received through the daily study of the Lesson-Sermons, and by attending the meetings and services which are so dear to me, has enabled me to understand God better and better and to recognize that Christian Science is a demonstrable religion,—that it is the truth which Jesus said would make us free,—for it has freed me of sickness, impatience, temper, a desire to rule, self-righteousness, envy, etc. Our faithful and beloved Leader has shown us through the revelation of this glorious religion the way to shield ourselves from the attacks of sickness as well as from the temptation to sin.
