SELF -QUESTIONING

Have I no faith today,
That I go halting on the road to God ?
Have I so soon forgot the backward desert way,
Have I so soon forgot the love that led each day?

Have I no faith today,
That I trust not in my all-loving God?
Have I forgot His food that was my daily stay.
The water-springs which flowed from rocks that barred the way ?

Have I no faith today?
That I should falter in my thoughts of God?
Have I so soon forgot the walls that fell away,
So we came into Jericho all sin to slay?

Have I no faith today,
That I feel not the glory of my true being, God?
Have I forgot the thrill — that first sweet sacrament,
The glowing of the ark that stood within the tent?
