In the fall of 1903 it was my good fortune to procure a room with a Christian Scientist in New York city. She invited me to attend church with her, and in that way I became interested in this Science. All my life I had been looking for a religion which would meet my needs and a God who would answer prayer, and to this end I had attended churches of almost every denomination, read deeply into various theories, and looked into any cult that happened to present itself to me; but after investigation there seemed to be nothing for me in any of them. A month after I first attended the Christian Science church, I purchased a Bible, a copy of Science and Health, and a Quarterly, and from that time till now they have been my daily companions. Some six weeks after first hearing of Science, I was healed instantaneously of a violent attack of throat trouble by reading the follow ing quotation from our text-book: "When the illusion of sickness or sin tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and His idea. Allow nothing but His likeness to abide in your thought" (Science and Health, p. 495). I seemed to grasp instantly the fact that if my consciousness was filled with God, there was certainly no room for anything else, and with this realization I was healed. I have never had to call a practitioner to my house, and can only remember of having had help six times. With these exceptions I have been able to meet all attacks, mental, physical, and financial, for five years. I also was able to help my son get rid of a malarial condition, and I have helped others on several occasions.

But the spiritual help which Christian Science has been to me outweighs all else. It is such a joy to realize what it means to be a child of God now; not alone in the future, but "now we are the sons of God," and as such we share in all the bounties of a loving Father. When we can once realize that God is the source of our supply, every need is met. When we learn to live close to God, the beliefs of sin and sickness are kept out of our consciousness and our lives are all harmony. For the knowledge of these facts which I have gained in Science, I am most deeply thankful to God, who has given us our noble Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and also grateful to her for teaching us this wonderful truth which makes all men free.
