DIVINE PROTECTION
Christian Science has entered the world to help humanity. The need of men is to learn more of God, of God's law, God's presence, God's power; and Christian Science brings to its students the surer knowledge of God, "on earth" as "in heaven," which makes plain His saving way. It may seem to the disinterested observer that Christian Science claims a great deal when it announces that the way of salvation---exact, scientific, demonstrable salvation has been found and is unfolded to the understanding of this age: yet if Christian Science did not bring to a troubled world a positive and provable remedy for its trouble, it would have little or no value.
The student of the Christian Science text-book sees early in his investigation that Christian Science is a statement of revealed and demonstrable truth, and that it can substantiate its claim, give proofs of its beneficent nature and influence. Mankind needs to understand how God's power and presence may become practically, availably protective to the human being in his hour of need, and it is just this sure knowledge of God and his law which Christian Science makes clear to the God-seeking man when his need for protection and help presses hard upon him.
The need for protection is continually with mortals, for the inventions of unrighteous belief in activities and forces apart from divine Love threaten their health and happiness almost constantly. Concerning this need the Scriptures assure us of a divine care which goes out to meet every upward-journeying heart with ample promise of shelter and help. The prophets voiced their visions of God's tender consideration for his creatures, the psalmist sang of it, priest and poet and righteous ruler uttered praise for it.
