Ever since I have been in Science, a little more than...
Ever since I have been in Science, a little more than two years, I have had a great desire to testify to the new life that has dawned for me in Christian Science. I know that it is the truth, that it can be applied, tested, and proven in our daily lives. When I first went to the reading-room for investigation, I was loaned a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. On my way home I felt with such a deep satisfaction, that I was carrying a book that contained the truth for which I had been diligently searching for many long and weary years. When I arrived home I sat down to read, and it seemed as if every page revealed such wonderful truths, such illuminations. I have never ceased to be grateful for them.
At that time I was suffering much from a supposedly organic eye trouble, and was trying to gain relief and strength by wearing glasses, but after reading this book three or four months I was healed completely. I then got a copy of my own, also a Quarterly, and took the Bible, which had never before received so much attention from me, and went to work in earnest. Since then many other physical, moral, and mental derangements have been overcome by the daily study of the Lesson-Sermons, while others are yielding more slowly but surely, sometimes requiring the aid of a practitioner.
While I am very grateful for these healings, I am even more grateful for the knowledge of the divine Principle that heals the sick, casts out error, and restores harmony. Clouds of error may arise, and to our mortal sense bring a great deal of disturbance, but in the truth these clouds pass away, leaving the mental atmosphere perfectly clear and calm. Then it is that the light of truth reveals to us in glorious splendor our Father-Mother God, and our hearts are filled to overflowing with a joy and peace that can only be known by those who have experienced it. We are bidden to put on the whole armor of God, which is dazzling bright, and studded with the precious jewels of patience, meekness, purity, and holiness, which never lose their brilliancy.
