The spiritual uplifting that has come into my life through Christian Science seems so all-important that I find myself continually giving thanks to God for the sweet peace which this healing religion has brought to me, and it may be that I sometimes forget to acknowledge that as a result I am also physically well. Three years and a half ago, when this Science was first presented to me, the truth of it all burst upon me with such grand assurance that then and there I was healed of every physical ailment; however, since the truth seen in that joy and illumination had to be lived and proven, I have necessarily had to fight many battles with a sense of material selfhood. During one of these, a struggle with toothache, this thought occurred to me most clearly, that man's real self is in God and not in mortal clay at all, so that really this tooth could not affect my true harmony or being. Immediately the tooth stopped aching, and I knew that I should have no more trouble with it.

So it is with all seeming trials,—I am learning to appeal more quickly to divine Love, knowing that in proportion to my understanding I shall be relieved. Through Mrs. Eddy's writings God has been brought into my daily thoughts, and now I am conscious of unceasing prayer in place of thoughts filled with worry, fear, and sin. If I am helpful in any degree to my family or friends, I most humbly know it to be due to the helpful teachings of Christian Science.—Nellie Paull Carroll, San Rafael, Cal.
