I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science...
I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. Six years ago an abnormal growth appeared on my body which the best doctors of San Francisco pronounced malignant. I underwent a very severe operation, which I hoped would end the trouble, but in about one year it appeared again and another severe operation was performed, after which the doctors gave me very little hope, telling me that even if the disease did not come again. which it was almost sure to do, I would never be able to use my arms, as a result of the operations. In this condition I started for Denver, Col., where I have a sister living, in order that I might be with some of my relatives when the end came; and the time seemed so very near that on my trip I pressed some of the beautiful flowers my friends in San Francisco had given me to cheer me on the way, and which I wished to be placed in my casket.
It was but two days after I arrived in Denver that the growth appeared again, in a more aggravated and painful form than before. I do not wish to describe my feelings at this time; but, thank God! my sister and her husband were Christian Scientists. Although I was very much opposed, and at first would not listen to it, there was no other place to which I could go, and I came to see that they had the word, the truth. My brother-in-law secured a practitioner, who took me by the hand and lovingly led me into "the land of Christian Science, where fetters fall and the rights of man are fully known and acknowledged" (Science and Health, p. 226). With two weeks' treatment I had the use of my right arm, on which the growth appeared the last time, and with seven weeks' treatment I was perfectly healed. I have perfect use of both arms, and am as active and healthy as I ever was.
Words are inadequate to express my gratitude to God, and to our Leader, for having been so lovingly guided to this blessed truth. I hope this testimony may be the means of leading some sufferer to the promised land—to the Christ-healing.—Miss Marie Buck, Denver, Col.
