With a deep sense of gratitude to our dear Leader for showing me the way to a better understanding of God, I feel it my duty to tell what Christian Science has done for me, in the hope that it may help some poor sufferer. About three years ago I became a physical wreck. For over a year I never knew what it was to have more than two or three hours' sleep in a night, and often I had no sleep at all. I took all kinds of medicine, but none seemed to do me any good. What made matters worse, I began to read a medical book, which only added to my misery, as I believed after reading it that I had an incurable disease. I became melancholy, and so irritable at times that my own people could not talk to me. As a last resort I was taken to one of the best specialists here, but he told my people that he could do nothing for me, and advised them to send me to a sanitarium. There I was given the best of medical treatment for nearly three months, but I was brought home in about the same condition as when I went there. The doctor suggested that I be sent to another sanitarium, but I often thank God that my people had not the money to send me, as I should probably have been there the rest of my days.

It is just a little over a year now since I tried Christian Science through the advice of a friend. In less than three months I became a new man, and to-day I am in perfect health and sleep better than I ever did. I know positively that by reading Science and Health and attending the church services regularly I have been healed, both physically and morally. When I look back and think how all my suffering has vanished into nothingness, I can but feel that I was led by God into Christian Science. I know that by living up to Christian Science we are bound to reach perfection.—Ike Samuel, New Orleans, La.
