I became interested in Christian Science through the healing of my wife. She had been a sufferer for more than ten years, during which time she tried well-nigh everything available in a material way, including surgery. It was through casting about for means of escape from a second operation that she was led to investigate Christian Science. She obtained relief at once, and I shall always believe she was healed after the third treatment, although she continued to take treatment for some time for the sake of the instruction. In a few months she gained over thirty pounds in weight and now weighs more than she ever did before.
At the time of my wife's healing I considered her case nothing short of marvelous. Since then I have learned that to be well is a God-given right. Her healing was so convincing to me that it raised me from a state of agnosticism to a belief in a supreme power, and I at once wanted to know more about Christian Science, because I needed it in many ways. My greatest enemy was stomach trouble, from which I had not been free as far back as I could remember. I also used to suffer greatly from headaches. I had nearly exhausted my patience in trying to get relief through materia medica, and had dieted more or less for several years. At the time of my first treatment I was amazed when told I could eat anything in the food line that I wanted; but I did as I was told, and from that day to this I have eaten as much as I desired. I have been healed of all my diseases and have not had a headache since the first treatment. I also have gained in weight.
I was not only healed of all my physical ills, but I found something for which I had been searching ever since I was old enough to think. Through the investigation of this Science I found that I had been searching for almost everything in the wrong place. I was always more or less interested in so-called physical science, but found many problems regarding life and the universe which I could not fathom. Now, however, I can satisfy myself in every way. Through a study of Science and Health I have become interested in the Bible, and I find there are no more perplexing questions coming before me. In their stead is a peace and comfort and satisfaction that I had never before experienced.
