It is with a heart full of gratitude that I try to tell in a few words what Christian Science has done for me. I was sickly from girlhood, always taking medicine of some kind; and though I went to many different physicians, and was treated by so-called mental healers, I was not cured. About seven years ago I was taken ill with stomach trouble in its worst form, and sometimes my friends would think I was dying. Doctors could not help me, and I was discouraged and tired of living,—really wished I could go to sleep and never awake. I believed I was a Christian, but I had lost my peace and joy.
A little over a year ago I heard that a Christian Science practitioner was in Danbury. I made my way to the rooms and commenced taking treatment. In a short time I could eat anything I liked, and have done so ever since. I was also healed of other ailments which I did not mention to the practitioner,—I had a growth under my eyelid which had been there for years, and it was removed by Christian Science. I gained ten pounds of flesh in the course of about two months. I have not taken any medicine in over a year, and feel well and happy. My peace and joy were restored, and old things have indeed passed away and all things become new. I was a great reader of light fiction, but have no taste for it now. I am over sixty years old, but work in the hat factory from early in the morning until late at night without feeling weary, and accomplish as much as the rest of the help, which I could not do before I became a Christian Scientist.
I thank God with all my heart that the Christian Science gospel came to Danbury, and that it found and healed me.
