I have recently had an experience which seems to me a beautiful illustration of the result of right thinking, as so ably taught by our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, in her book. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." The latter part of July, 1907, I slipped and fell rather heavily on one knee, in such a manner as to injure it quite severely, The first sense of pain was at once overcome by remembering that "man is spiritual and perfect" (Science and Health, p. 475), and the thought of pain did not again enter my consciousness; but, as my business necessitated constant movement, the healing of the bruised flesh seemed to present another problem. During the following six weeks I was urged to "go to a physician, if only to have your knee properly bandaged," but I did not wish any compromise. Knowing that Spirit and matter do not mix, I preferred to "cling steadfastly to God and His idea" (Science and Health, p. 495), and with that desire of course I won out. About four weeks after the accident I noticed my thought was getting a little cloudy and impatient, so I went twice to a practitioner, and after the second treatment I knew that the trouble was over. Since then, the healing has been much more rapid, and is now practically complete. I have been in Science less than four years, and not a day passes that does not bring its experience of thankfulness for the understanding attained and the longing for more. With this desire comes the thought of gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for her patience and perseverance in getting so close to God, good, and for her lovingkindness in giving her understanding to the world.—James S. Blake, New York, N. Y.
