My heart is full of the deepest gratitude to God, and...
My heart is full of the deepest gratitude to God, and to our dearly beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the greatest blessing that can come to all mankind, the understanding and realization of man's true being, as given us in the teachings of Christian Science. Three and a half years ago I did not know of Christian Science. I was wearing glasses, had worn them constantly for five years, and my eyes troubled me a great deal. After leaving school I had my eyes examined by an oculist and was told that I must use a lens which greatly magnified. A very few days after this my attention was called to Christian Science and its teaching that God is Love and all good. Being greatly interested I went to a practitioner, and with one treatment was healed instantly. My glasses were taken off after the treatment, and have never been on since. I have also been healed of a misplacement of a number of years' standing, which had caused me a good deal of suffering. But the greatest blessing which Christian Science imparts is the daily uplifting of thought, the comforting assurance that we have found the living God, whose presence is encircling us always in love. Striving steadfastly to keep my every thought holy,—"whole" in Truth,—free from all illusions of the old material senses, and filled constantly with love, I am seeing more clearly each day that there is but one Principle governing man, and that man is the true idea of this Principle. The Bible, with its heretofore hidden meanings, has now become unfolded to me; it is a new book and my daily companion.
Words can never express how deeply thankful I feel every hour for my awakening in Christian Science to man's real being, which is wholly in Mind, never in nor of matter. The only way I can prove my gratitude is in my daily living of the truth and in giving out love to all.
