Christian Science has done so much for me that I...

Christian Science has done so much for me that I scarcely know what to tell of, but recently I had an experience which helped me greatly to appreciate this wonderful truth. I had a tooth which became very painful. My mother, who is a practitioner, had always given me assistance when I needed it, but as she was some distance away, in a neighboring State, I hesitated to ask for help and tried to work for myself during two or three days. I was then suffering greatly and had scarcely slept for forty-eight hours. My mother was called on the long distance telephone and the trouble explained. Within fifteen minutes I was asleep, and when I awakened in an hour or more it was with such a sense of peace and joy as I had never experienced in my life. It seemed to me I could almost hear the angels singing, and the words kept repeating themselves, "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." And such a rest! I think that only those who have experienced the wonderful healing power of Truth, and the sense of calm, uplifting peace that follows, can know the meaning of that little word "rest." There was never the slightest return of the pain, and my face, which had been badly swollen, soon assumed its natural appearance. No material remedies of any kind were used, although the friends around me, who were none of them Scientists, seemed to think it was criminal carelessness and scarcely respectable not to use at least hot water applications. A few days later I found it necessary to have some dental work done, and a large cavity in a tooth was filled and another tooth extracted without any dread or discomfort. This seemed a very beautiful demonstration to me, as in the old thought I could never approach a dental chair without great dread and nervousness, and after having any dental work done I was always a nervous wreck for several hours.

I do not know how to be grateful enough to God for all the blessings I have received from Christian Science, and words are inadequate to express my thanks to our dear Leader for her tireless teachings and guidance.
