My gratitude for the unfolding of truth through Christian Science...
My gratitude for the unfolding of truth through Christian Science is unbounded. My mother bought a copy of Science and Health in 1887, but did not make a constant study of the book until the fall of 1889. when a loyal student of Mrs. Eddy came to Northampton and showed her the necessity for it. The daily study of Science and Health did for a sickly family what physicians and drugs, furnished by my father, a pharmacist, had failed to do. It healed me of what the doctors called malaria. The pain that would attack me, even while at play, disappeared before the light of Truth. It overcame for my sisters and me many physical ailments common to childhood, better and more quickly than materia medica could have done. The proofs of the presence and power of God in our midst could not be enumerated. I should not fail to mention the help received during those early years, before we met in public halls, from the little weekly meetings at which the Lesson-Sermon given in the Christian Science Quarterly was read.
I am thankful for the experiences which have come to me of recent years. My gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for showing us that Principle and not personality is the only foundation upon which we can build safely, increases all the time.
Miriam B. Clark, Northampton, Mass.
