After many years of suffering I was led to see the light in Christian Science by the healing of my son, who also had been a great sufferer, partly through my own fear and the false education of belief in material laws. In the summer of 1902 the first Christian Science treatment I received healed me of rheumatic trouble, and following this, a host of other diseases, such as heart and stomach trouble, headaches, etc. I can honestly say that no power could have made me believe that it was anything but the truth which healed me. The following spring I received a bad fall, striking the base of the spine. I immediately lost consciousness, but on regaining it, I found myself declaring the truth vehemently. On examination the spine was found to be badly injured, but I called a Christian Science practitioner, who handled the case for about nine days, when without any warning I felt the twisted bone turn into place.

It is a common experience in Christian Science for the spiritual awakening to be the most satisfying part of it. and I can truly say that I am thankful our dearly loved Leader has shown us the way, teaching us that "Christian Science commands man to master the propensities,—to hold hatred in abeyance with kindness, to conquer lust with chastity, revenge with charity, and to overcome deceit with honesty" (Science and Health, p. 405). I have had many fine demonstrations of the power of Truth, and I cannot find words to express my thankfulness to that noble and divinely gifted woman, Mrs. Eddy.
