When I think of the happiness I have had since being...
When I think of the happiness I have had since being lifted out of darkness through Christian Science, I feel I have much to be thankful for. When I first heard of it I had been a sufferer for years. I had been treated by five prominent physicians, each one giving my disease a different name. I thought I never would be well again. The doctors did all they could to help me, but they could not cure me. I remember the first time I went to a practitioner for help; I received peace and quietude such as I had never known before. If it had not been for Christian Science I would not be here to-day, telling of the wonderful power of God. Our family have all been healed of diseases of various kinds, and some of severe injuries, through the knowledge of divine Love. When I was first healed my sister-in-law loaned me a copy of Science and Health. I read it through, but did not seem to understand much of it, so I laid it away. As she was a practitioner, I would send to her for help when any one in the family was sick, and they were healed. I did not try to study for myself; but there came a time when I found there was a work for me to do, that I must work out my own salvation. I began to study the Bible and Science and Health, also the Lesson-Sermons, and then came a spiritual awakening such as I had never known before, though I had been a member of an orthodox church for twenty years, had loved the church, and thought I was serving God. Through the study of Science and Health I was led from darkness to light and to know that God is all-powerful and ever-present, that He is a God of love whom we can love, serve, and obey. How can we be thankful enough for the many blessings we receive through the teachings of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy! I am ever grateful to her for showing us the way. Our text-book is certainly the "Key to the Scriptures;" it explains the Bible as nothing else has done, God bless Mrs. Eddy! I do appreciate the Sentinel very much; it is a welcome guest each week and a great help.
