I have long delayed sending an expression of gratitude...

I have long delayed sending an expression of gratitude for this great light and truth given us through our dear Leader. Mrs. Eddy, in Christian Science. It is about eight years since there came into my life an intense longing for something more satisfying than I had, although I was a consistent member of an orthodox church and had prayed earnestly for many years without avail. This led me to see that there was something wrong, because I believed in a good God and His promises. At the time Christian Science was presented to me I was suffering from bronchial trouble, for which my family doctor had said there was no cure, though he allayed my fear by saying that people who had this trouble lived for years. So I gave it no special attention, but began the study of Science and Health, which absorbed my every thought from the first page read. I would hasten with all work to get to the book, for I knew it was what I wanted and that it would meet every need. The chronic I disappeared without my knowing when it went, and in place of a melancholy state of mind there came a spiritual uplifting which more than satisfied me. Since then I have seen wonderful demonstrations of healing in my own family and in others. There have been some difficulties to meet, but Truth has helped me to overcome them and has revealed their nothingness.

I had the great privilege of attending the dedication of The Mother Church in June, 1906, for which words cannot express my gratitude. I am also grateful that I have two sons and a daughter who are all studying and working out their problems in divine Science, and who have overcome the enemy in many ways. I am glad that it is my privilege to live in this age, and I know that as I gain a greater understanding of the truth there will come the ability to meet the tests and problems of this mortal life, and I shall realize the promise to those who are faithful. I am thankful to our Publishing Society for their untiring labor. The weekly editorials come as messengers bearing truth on their wings. I am also grateful to all those at our headquarters who are being used to assist this great and growing army in the way of Truth's leading.

Mrs. Eunice H. Patterson, Brookings, S. D.
