I cannot express the great gratitude I feel for having...

I cannot express the great gratitude I feel for having been helped to know about Christian Science. I first heard of it about eighteen months ago, through a lady's visiting my mother who had a severe attack of illness. I saw that the treatment did her much good, and it set me thinking and washing to know more about Christian Science. I went to a meeting the next Sunday, held at this lady's house, and felt still more interested in it. I was at this time living solely for this world and its pleasures, though I had for years tried to understand the Bible, but could not as it all seemed contradictory and its teachings not at all possible to live up to. I was for years a member of an orthodox church and a communicant, but this did not satisfy my wants. The reading of Mrs. Eddy's "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and the earnest study of the Bible has altered all this and made my life seem worth living, which it did not before. I persuaded my husband to go to one of the Christian Science meetings, and it has made a new man of him. It is now his greatest pleasure to attend the Christian Science services and we are altogether changed in our home,—peace and sobriety reign, where before there was great unhappiness and discord, caused partly through drink. Now, thank God, we are doing entirely without it, never looking back or thinking about it, and we are so much happier in every way. Our great desire is to so live that others may see the great benefits conferred on us, and we hope it will make them wish to know more about Christian Science as it did us.

We cannot be grateful enough to Mrs. Eddy, and hope we shall continue to live in the light of Truth. I am never ill now, though I used to suffer considerably at times, but the reading of Science and Health and the Ninety-first Psalm has helped me in every way. We are indeed grateful to God, the giver of all good, and to Mrs. Eddy, through whom we may all know the truth, and we try humbly to follow the path she has so clearly pointed out to us.
