With a grateful heart I testify to the blessings I have experienced through Christian Science. Since childhood I had suffered from a bowel trouble for which every possible remedy had been tried, but without lasting results; on the contrary, it became more obstinate. After trying everything that materia medica could offer, I turned to hygiene, vegetarianism, etc. This seemed to bring me relief for a time, and consequently I became an enthusiastic dietarian, but after a little this too proved a failure, and I was left worse than before, for other ailments were added to the original trouble. For five months I had been suffering from a very serious throat trouble. I was under medical treatment, but received no permanent relief. Conditions finally became much aggravated and at this point all my belief in hygiene vanished and I decided to turn to Christian Science. I went with a strong faith to a practitioner, and after the first treatment the bowel trouble from which I had suffered for about fifty years disappeared. With about ten treatments my throat was well. My family, and especially myself, could hardly realize what had happened, and words cannot express our thanks to God.

From childhood I had also been often troubled with rheumatic difficulty, and every spring for the past ten years I had suffered greatly from slight attacks of a serious form of this disease. This spring, thanks to the knowledge of Truth, I have also been freed from this. Quite lately I had another manifestation of the power of Truth. A heavy oil painting fell from the wall, and as I tried to catch it the corner of it struck me on the upper lip. For the moment I thought all my front teeth were knocked out. The pain was very severe. My first thought afterwards was regret that on account of a swollen face I would be prevented from attending our Wednesday meeting that evening, but as soon as this fear came into my thought I cast it out, knowing that in divine Principle no ill could happen to me. I washed the wound and there was not the slightest trace of a swelling, and in a few days it was quite healed.

In my household I experience daily the power of Truth, but the greatest gain is the moral and spiritual uplifting. We owe Mrs. Eddy, the Founder of Christian Science, great thanks for the blessings we are continually receiving through the understanding of Truth. May my gratitude express itself in earnest striving to support this divine work in increasing understanding and capability to demonstrate this truth.
