I am a man of middle age, and until June, 1900, I was continually under the care of doctors. Some of my ailments dated back as far as 1870, and as they became chronic I lost much time from my occupation. Later on I grew very feeble, although I tried all kinds of medical treatment. The doctors pronounced my ailments liver, kidney, and heart troubles, besides numerous other diseases, until I landed at the city hospital, which was then considered the ending of my earthly career. My wife, however, prevailed upon our family physician to have me taken to my home, which was done later in the week. This happened in January, 1900. The doctors then advised me to take a trip abroad, or to Colorado and California, which was out of the question for various reasons, but I made frequent trips to Atlantic City, only to return the worse for it. Finally our physician asked me to employ a Philadelphia specialist, and I was under his treatment until June, 1900, when he advised me to return to my home. This made me feel that I should not get well, for I had long thought I had a malignant disease, and my mind was also becoming affected.
It was then that my wife heard of the wonderful healing done by Christian Science and prevailed upon me to try it, which I did under protest, because I knew little or nothing about it; but I am happy to say that the relief was almost immediate. I had only three present treatments, and would have been able to return to my business after the third one, but I waited until the tenth day, when I felt perfectly strong and well and have been so ever since. For over five years I have taken no material remedies. I am certainly well and happy, a changed man mentally and spiritually; and I am trying to apply this truth to the best of my understanding in my life and in my business. I am also glad to say that my wife and children have come into Christian Science since my healing. My wife has had some beautiful cases of healing since taking up this Science, of which she is a thorough student. Besides my own healing, I have seen the sick and sinful healed, the lame made to walk and the blind to see, and to me it is the sweetest story ever told.
I am truly grateful for Christian Science and its teachings, and to our dear Leader for the message of Truth, Life, and Love which she has so effectively translated for all mankind. We now know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.
