About nine years have passed since I quit taking medicine...
About nine years have passed since I quit taking medicine and began to rely entirely on God for healing. I had heard of Christian Science some time before I ever thought of trying it, but I did not know it was a religion. When I decided to investigate it I borrowed a copy of Science and Health from a neighbor and commenced to read it. That night I slept well, but I did not give the book credit for my sweet rest. The following day I continued to read the book, and that night my rest was again peaceful and refreshing; then I knew that Science and Health had helped me, as before this I had been troubled with sleeplessness, also stomach trouble. I had been for several years a nervous, irritable woman, always looking for trouble, and I got what I was looking for. My weight had gone down to less than one hundred pounds—now I weigh one hundred and fifty. From the reading of Science and Health, and the study of the weekly Lessons, I was made a new woman, in disposition and in health, without any treatments, and was able to eat whatever I wanted. I am growing stronger each day in this understanding of the Christ-healing, and am so glad to be able to help my brothers and sisters in time of trouble and sickness. I have had many demonstrations over sickness and accidents, for my children, who were quite small when I came into Science. They are both Scientists and were with me at the dedication of The Mother Church last June.
I cannot close this testimony without expressing my deepest love and gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, for having lived so close to God as to be able to give us this scientific way of working out our life-problems. I am striving to reach the pinnacle she has attained.
