With a sense of gratitude to God for Christian Science...

With a sense of gratitude to God for Christian Science which no words can express, I will tell of one of the many proofs we have had of its truth and efficacy. We were having our yard filled in, and our little girl, five years old, had gone in the wagon after a load of soil. On the return trip the horses became frightened and ran away. Both the driver and child were thrown out, and the large truck wagon with its heavy load went over the child. A lady who saw the accident begged my husband to take the child to a doctor before bringing her home, knowing that I was a believer in Christian Science. He brought her home, however, and asked if I did not think we had better have a doctor. I said no; for I felt that I dare not trust her in that condition to material methods. Instead, we sent for a Christian Science practitioner. The accident occurred about six o'clock on a Saturday evening. At twelve o'clock that night the child was seemingly helpless, for the little body was terribly crushed. Twenty-four hours later she still seemed to be in a dangerous condition, but the practitioner held firmly to the truth as taught in Science and Health. Not a single material application was employed, but every man-made law and every medical law was overcome. In forty-eight hours our little patient ate a nice breakfast. In five days she could sit up; in eight days she could stand up, and her feet began to turn to their natural position. The gain was rapid and steady. In three weeks the demonstration was perfect, and the Bible promise was proven true, "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; ... they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

This occurred two years ago last March, and our child is unusually large for her age and has splendid health at the present time. The evidence of injury to the hip is nearly obliterated, and she has had some good demonstrations for herself and others. Does any one wonder that Christian Scientists love and reverence their Leader, Mrs. Eddy?
