After seven years of prolonged and intense suffering...
After seven years of prolonged and intense suffering I am now perfectly strong and healthy. I had acute nervous trouble and every form of female weakness, resulting in what five doctors termed an impoverished condition of the blood. This condition continued so long that my friends and family were discouraged. The last year of this illness I had a continual cough, and frequent attacks of stomach and bowel trouble for which my physician failed to give any relief, except through morphine, the constant use of which was rapidly shutting off all natural action. My recovery seemed almost hopeless, and I received no encouragement from the doctors.
This was my condition when I found Christian Science, of which I knew nothing. I was told it was the true understanding of God, and I asked for treatment. In five days from my first treatment the Scientist pronounced me healed, but such peace and mental freedom came with the healing that I asked a continuation of the visits, which was granted me for ten days. This was in April, and the last of the following June I entered into a business engagement, giving my entire attention to that line of work for fourteen years, without losing a day on my own account. While I am no longer in the business world, I am a strong, healthy woman. It is eighteen years since my healing, and in all that time not a suggestion of sickness has appeared in my household that has not been met and mastered through an understanding of God as an all-powerful, all-wise, ever-present Father,—such an understanding as was perfectly demonstrated by our elder Brother, and awaits each one of us in proportion as we lay down self and follow him in the truth.
