In October, 1904, I first heard of Christian Science...
In October, 1904, I first heard of Christian Science through a family of Scientists whom I met,—an acquaintance for which I have since been very thankful. From the time I was a child I had felt it my duty to be a Christian, but was always in search of something I could not find. I had attended four different churches, but was not yet ready to accept the religious belief of any. I was searching for something better, and at last I had found it. I got a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and by the first of January, 1905, I was ready to lay aside all material remedies. The following August I had class instruction, and have been able to meet all problems myself, except that when I first took up the study of Science I had three treatments. Last July I met with an accident while out riding. I fell off, and seemingly injured my spine, but I got up, and mounted my horse, knowing that as God's child no error could harm me. After I had ridden a mile all pain had ceased. A few days later I noticed that when I stooped down there seemed to be some trouble, and I then set myself to work more earnestly than before. The result was that in three days I was all right.
I cannot express my heartfelt gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. I thank our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the blessed truth she has made so clear to all who will accept it.
Miss Lela Phelps, Wallace, Neb.
