I was cured of heart disease and dropsical trouble in 1897. This was accomplished through Christian Science. I had been troubled with both these diseases for several years. An acquaintance of mine, who is a doctor, told me I would be in the graveyard soon if I did not have medical treatment. I finally went to a good doctor and had a thorough examination. He said that owing to the condition of my heart, I could not possibly live in this high altitude; and that even if I did go away from Leadville I might drop dead any minute. My husband told him that if he would cure me, he would pay him liberally, but the doctor said that neither he nor any other doctor could cure me. The next day I made my will, thinking that I had to die, as the doctor had said.
A short time after the doctor had told me these things, a friend who is a Christian Scientist came to the house. I was very downhearted, and told him all the doctor had said. My friend said to me, "It is not true; God is here, and you don't have to die." From that moment I knew that I was going to live. This friend treated me for about a week, and I improved from the very first. I have not the slightest trace of those troubles now.
Mary J. Stuthman, Leadville, Col.
