In June of 1902 I had an experience which proved what even a limited understanding of Christian Science will do in a case of a dreaded disease, supposedly contagious. The case was passed on by several, who had more or less experience with this disease, among whom was our city physician, who stands high in his profession, also the quarantine official, who said there was no doubt but that the physician's diagnosis of the case was correct. The patient, my little son, became very ill; had high fever and severe pains. We immediately had Christian Science treatment for him, and all sense of pain was overcome in two hours, all fever allayed in six hours, and the eruption was arrested from any further development and healed in one week. At no time, after the first symptoms above mentioned, did the child have any fever, pain, nausea, or distressing conditions such as usually accompany this disease. He ate as usual, slept well, was up every day, and was occupied at something all of the time. It seems needless to add no other cases were contracted from this one. One thing for which I am especially grateful, was the sense of peace that we all felt. It indeed was a season of thanksgiving for this demonstration of the supremacy of spiritual law over man-made material laws.
