Christian Science has indeed made a different woman of me. The physical change is apparent to all those who knew me before I heard of Christian Science, but only I myself can know the mental bondage from which I have been freed. After having watched my mother battle with disease in its worst forms for six long years, the only reply received from physicians was, "We can do nothing for her, it is only a question of time." Following the loss of parents and home, sorrow, work, and worry developed in me a physical condition diagnosed by one physician as serious lung trouble, and by another as nervous exhaustion. Medicine and rest gave no relief, and I fain would have left this world. Temporary relief came through the determination that as long as I must live, apparently, I would cast aside all thoughts of sickness and do the best I could; and it was then that Christian Science came to me with its sweet message, "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." As I look back upon the experience, I feel that the first reading of the text-book healed me, for it showed me plainly that turning to material means for help is idolatry. I had always had a blind faith in God, and love for Him, and my thought upon the question. What is God? was somewhat prepared for the incorporeal idea of Deity, so it was with pleasure that I read the statements defining Life as God, and that God is Mind; yet I wanted proof. On page 547 of Science and Health I read, "You can prove for yourself, dear reader, the Science of healing." I did; and then I knew that Christian Science is the truth which Jesus gave to this world, and that whatever sacrifice or cross-bearing might attend the following, follow we must. In my four years' experience any sacrifice has been so far outweighed by the peace and joy of Truth, that I can almost say there is no cross.

I feel that my love for our Leader is pure; it began with the reading of her book, and increases with the understanding and demonstration of its teachings. There is nothing more beautiful than the life of a good, noble woman, and that is what Mrs. Eddy has given to the world.
