Omaha (Neb.) World-Herald

We give space to a letter from an Omaha physician, who criticises the World-Herald for opposing the proposed legislation against Christian Scientists. He avers that the legislation which would subject Christian Science practice to the control of medical practitioners does not in any manner interfere with "belief" in Christian Science. He apparently thinks it fair, for instance, to compel Christian Scientists who do not believe in disease to study and pass examination before physicians on "pathology"—the science of diseases. This is one of the provisions of the proposed bill. It would be about as reasonable as to require a physician applying for a license to pass an examination before a board of Christian Scientists on Mrs. Eddy's work, Science and Health. In either case the applicant would be under necessity of appearing before an antagonistic board to be examined in something he did not believe in.

Other States have defeated unjust bills like this, and Nebraska should do the same. If Christian Science is to be regulated by law, it is narrow-minded to put the regulation into the hands of its enemies.
