During the last three years my wife and I have had the pleasure of visiting The Mother Church in Boston and five Christian Science churches in Chicago. We wish to express our gratitude to God, to Mrs. Eddy, to the Readers, and to the lecturers, for the many beautiful and uplifting thoughts which have been given us; and to acknowledge the reflection of divine Love through these channels, which has given us a quiet peacefulness that surpasses all human understanding. As we entered The Mother Church on June 10, to attend the first of the six services held there on that day, the morning light had broken, symbolizing the awakening of enlightened and liberated thought, and as the sunlight of Truth streamed in through the windows, it seemed as if every one in that vast audience was filled with thankfulness, reverence, and consecration to God. The grand, majestic, towering dome spread over us as a canopy of Love, the beautiful organ and silver-toned chimes sending forth sweet strains of music to the praise of God,—every part and feature of this magnificent building spoke to us of the temple not made with hands.

When I first began to read Science and Health I decided not to take any more medicine, as I wanted to give Christian Science a fair trial, and this thought came to me,—If God created man, He certainly is able to keep him in health; and I find that He can and does. I am more prosperous since I became interested in Christian Science, because I used to be sick a great deal; but now I know that God is all, I am well, and as health is a capital to any one, prosperity is the divinely natural result. I used to be afraid to eat certain kinds of food, but we read in the Bible that Jesus said, "Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink;" again we read, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." What was I doing? I was making a god of food by giving it power to distress me, and I was working from human theories instead of from the understanding of divine Principle. Now I am not afraid to eat or drink anything, and nothing distresses me. The spiritual food is always ready for those who are willing to accept it, with its animating and uplifting power. This is the best of all, and he who partakes of it is like an eagle that spreads its wings for a loftier flight, until all sense of sin and disease is lost to sight.
