For seven and a half years I was an invalid, not being able to walk in that time, although not confined to my bed all of the time. The doctors called the trouble a disease of the spine and female weakness. I had tried a number of physicians without realizing any permanent relief, although I think they all did a best they could for me. My body had become much distorted and my limbs were very much emaciated. In the spring of 1889 I decided to try Christian Science, although I knew nothing about it, but I had lost all faith in material remedies. A Christian Science practitioner came to see me on a Saturday and gave me treatment. The next Tuesday I began to walk a little, and in a week I could walk about the house and out of doors. I had many kinds of medicines in the house, but I had no further use for them and they were all thrown away. I have not needed any material remedy since being healed, sixteen years ago, and I have been able both to walk and to work ever since that time. I have found Christian Science a present help in every time of need, and I thank God for our Leader, and for the understanding which I have Christian Science.
