The [Indiana] Senate yesterday [Feb. 13] passed the Farber Bill by a vote of 27 to 15, regulating the practice of medicine. Several amendments were offered, but were defeated save the one introduced by Senator Slack, which provides "that nothing in the act shall be construed to apply to any person who administers to or treats the sick or suffering by mental or spiritual means, without the use of any drug or material remedy."

This section applies particularly to Christian Science practice, which found a large number of supporters. Senators Slack and Kistner both made speeches praising the work of the Scientists. Senator Kistner referred to them as one of the largest and most influential churches in the land. Several representatives appeared before the House Committee on Health yesterday afternoon and spoke in favor of the amended Farber Bill as it passed Senate. The Committee, it is expected, will report the bill as it came from the Senate.
