For twenty years prior to my healing I had suffered intense pain from an aggravated form of stomach trouble, frequently being confined to my bed for several days at a time, and I had become emaciated as well as irritable. There was scarcely anything I could eat that did not distress me greatly, and I was compelled to live principally upon milk. During this period I was under the care of the best physicians, who said they could only relieve me from time to time. In packing, preparatory to an eastern trip two years ago, the medicines which were my inseparable companions were inadvertently overlooked. When I discovered that the medicine had been left at home, I immediately determined to buy some at the first opportunity, feeling that I could not live without material remedies.

Before leaving home a friend had suggested my reading Science and Health and testing its teachings. I bought the book and took it with me, promising to read it through while away. In order to get through with this book so that I could enjoy some books of fiction which I had with me, I began to read it in less than half an hour after boarding the train, but Science and Health proved so interesting that I put it aside only long enough to eat and sleep. I forgot to buy any medicine, and found myself eating anything set before me, even die, and was healed before I had read the book half through. It is almost needless to add that it has been a constant companion ever since. We turn to Christian Science for every need that comes up in our family, for our children and for my business. While I am indeed grateful for this healing, I am even more thankful for the spiritual uplifting that has come to me, and the dropping off of old habits and ways. To know God as He is, and that I can go to Him at all times,—to know what it means to be a child of God in His image and likeness, that man is spiritual and God is our Life,—is indeed a glimpse of heaven. What amount of money could pay for this understanding? If I should give all my material possessions, I could not half pay for the blessing and regeneration that Christian Science has brought to my family and me. I wish to express my gratitude for all that has helped me to make this great truth more plain, and especially to our dear Leader, who has been worthy to receive this revelation of Christ, Truth. I am also grateful that she has been enabled to express this truth in a way that we can both understand and use it.
