I first became interested in Christian Science about...
I first became interested in Christian Science about nine years ago. I did not seek it for physical healing, but was led to investigate it when a member of my family was urged to try for a disease which physicians were unable to cure. The cure was effected through Christian Science, and in the mean time, through reading the text-book and talking with Scientists, I had become thoroughly convinced that Christian Science was absolutely satisfying and practical religion and that I wanted it. From that time to this I have found it a never-failing source of strength, applicable to all needs. In a short time after beginning the study of the text-book I was able to lay aside glasses which I had worn for a number of years. Later I was healed of a case of fever in three days' treatment. I have found it a ready cure for doubt, discontent, discouragement, and fear, so that I can say with the psalmist, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases."
I am deeply grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who, when she had received the revelation of this wonderful truth and had experienced its healing power, was willing to endure persecution and misrepresentation,—the bitter attacks of hatred and malice,—that she might give to a suffering world that comfort wherewith she herself had been comforted of God.—Maud Cannif, Toledo, O.
