Over eight years ago I was healed by Christian Science...
Over eight years ago I was healed by Christian Science of lung trouble in an advanced stage. For four or five months previous to my release from the disease I had rapidly been growing worse. The necessity of continuing the business in which I was engaged at the time, seemed so great that I put forth the utmost effort to keep up, but was finally unable to sit up at work the whole day, and grew so weak that it was difficult for me even to speak. We had called in no physician, having no faith in the ability of materia medica to meet the exigencies of this disease, as my father, who had gone with the same trouble had tried every remedy known to medicine, as well as a change to a southern climate.
Early one morning I was awakened by what seemed a most alarming condition, and we felt the necessity of immediate action in some direction. While applying the simple remedies at hand, I overheard my mother give the order to call a Christian Science practitioner at once. I was surprised to hear her do so, but as I recovered from the attack, which was a very severe one, I began to feel that my mother had been wise in calling upon Christian Science for aid, for we had felt certain that material means were of no avail in the treatment of this dread disease.
The practitioner gave me treatment immediately, but did not call until two hours later. My first thought had been that I would be obliged to remain in bed the whole day, but contrary to my expectations, I felt so much stronger than usual that I arose at once and had been at work some time before the Scientist arrived. I continued to improve steadily, never experiencing any recurrence of the attack. I had always been considered delicate, but under Christian Science treatment, which extended over a couple of months, my health was built up in every way. In these eight years Christian Science has been to us all things in all ways, and I feel inexpressible gratitude for these many visible manifestations of Truth's power.
