When I was ten years old I had a large swelling on the side of my neck just under the ear. I was treated by an allopathic physician for over a year with no improvement. Internal as well as external remedies were used in the way of drugs, until finally the physician said that he would have to lance the swelling. This he did, but without beneficial results, so he lanced it a second time more deeply. This was equally unsuccessful, and he told my family that the only thing he could do was to perform a very serious operation, and that unless it was done the outcome would be serious. This proposed operation was questionable in two ways, for it was not a sure cure, and was also dangerous. My family would not consent to the operation, and at that time we heard of Christian Science. Two aunts of mine had been cured most wonderfully by it, and through it seemed vague and impossible then, my family decided to try it for me rather than submit to the operation. I was completely cured of that trouble, and during the sixteen years since I was first so wonderfully healed, the other members of my family as well as myself have been helped in countless ways and are rejoicing in the knowledge of Christian Science. I wish to say that my healing was slow. I was treated nearly a year in Christian Science before the cure was accomplished, but it was sure, and when compared to the length of time I had been treated with material remedies it did not seem long.
