I had been an invalid for more than twenty years when...
I had been an invalid for more than twenty years when in the summer of 1897 my attention was directed to Christian Science. During all this time kind physicians had done everything in their power to help me, but their efforts resulted in only occasional and temporary relief. They said that the digestive organs were diseased, and in part paralyzed, so that in all these years there had been no natural action. I also had stomach trouble in an aggravated form, and was never free from suffering. Being in advanced years, no one expected me to recover and I myself had about abandoned hope. In the winter of 1896 it was though I could not survive till spring; but God spared my life, and in the summer of that year I began to read Christian Science literature. I soon received some benefit, and later had a few weeks' treatment. I was very quickly healed of the bowel trouble, and gradually, with a little help from time to time, the other ailments yielded and my health improved in every way, much to the surprise of all my friends. For years I have enjoyed good health, and now, at the age of seventy-four, I am a happy and grateful follower of the blessed truth as taught by our beloved Leader. Mrs. Eddy. I have also been healed of another most distressing condition, from which I had suffered for over fifty-five years.—Cynthia Mason, Rutland, Vt.
