Some time ago I had an experience which taught me how necessary it is that we deny every error at its first appearance, and declare the power of Truth. I journeyed from Cannstadt to Zurich, and in our compartment was a lady with three little children, one of whom had inflamed eyes. During the long journey the other travelers as well as myself looked at the little boy several times, and I forgot to deny the reality of the error. In the afternoon I reached the end of my journey and in the evening I seemed to suffer from the same trouble with my eyes. When I awoke the next morning I could not at first open my eyes, but I denied the error with its seeming reality, and tried to turn mentally away from it to Truth. As I was visiting relatives I was somewhat disturbed in my treatment, and I did not succeed either the first or second day in mastering the trouble. The third day I went early to a quiet park where I began my treatment. I endeavored to realize that there no power apart from the all-power, and that this is good only. I also tried to assert my God-given dominion over the material senses, and after I had worked for about two hours, opposing the error and asserting the dominion of good, I suddenly felt a great improvement in my eyes, and during the day the trouble disappeared.
I am grateful to our heavenly Father that He had, through our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, shown us anew the way in Christian Science, whereby we experience such demonstrations and even greater ones.
Georg Haigis, Cannstadt bei Stuttgart, Germany.
