About sixteen years ago I had a severe attack of the grip, which left me with lame shoulders and a cough. During seven years I could not dress or undress without assistance and there was constant pain in my shoulders. I went to different doctors, until I had received treatment from five, and all said that this chronic condition could not be cured. A friend then wrote me to try Christian Science, and I went to the church on three Sundays, became much interested, and knew it was the truth, but I was not able to go the fourth Sunday. My husband then asked help for me from a Christian Science practitioner. She gave me absent treatment, and I was so much better the next day that I assisted in a large washing; on Tuesday I found that I could raise my arms to my head. Before the week was over I was perfectly well. I was very happy, and said, "This is a miracle, I feel like shouting it from the house-tops." I, however, found that my enthusiasm met with little response from my friends. One doctor had said that I would surely die with consumption in less than a year, as I was much emaciated, but I now weigh more than I ever did and people can scarcely believe I was so ill. I have been and am doing all I can to spread this healing gospel, and am able to help others very often.—
