Good alone emanates from God

Good alone emanates from God. A fountain cannot send forth both sweet water and bitter. If God works through drugs, how can our drugging friends explain the deadly results from the use of so many drugs. Would any reasonable person assert that it was the power of God in a drug which is utilized, for instance, to commit murder? That drugs and poisons are opposed to the kingdom of heaven is shown by Jesus, who declared that if his disciples—those who understand his teachings—drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them. On one occasion Jesus declared he came to destroy the works of the devil. In destroying the power of the deadly drugs he therefore was destroying not the works of good but of evil. If the use of drugs is the divine method of healing, how does it happen that a drug is used to-day and discarded to-morrow as no longer efficacious? If God is omniscient, why should it be necessary to improve on the drug? The Ten Commandments do not change, neither does the Golden Rule; and they never will, because they exemplify great truths, while drugs do not.

Christian Science denies that drugs are from God. They gain their strength with mortals because men believe in their power. When the belief is destroyed the power of the drug is gone. This explains the failure of drugs to hold their own as remedial agencies. Belief in their healing power fades, and they are discarded. No mere human belief remains unmoved. Not being based on unalterable, unchanging Truth, it fails as men advance to a better understanding of God and His universe. "Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up."
