In the winter of 1892 I received my first blessing from Christian Science. My eyes had troubled me all my life and oculists had told me I was becoming blind, but in one or two treatments in Christian Science all sense of pain in the eyes was destroyed and I now have no fear in this respect. The following spring I took class instruction, and soon after left for my home in an eastern State. In a feeble way I tried for a time to put into practice what I had learned of the truth, but within less than two years I fell asleep over the task. This mesmerism was in no sense restful. There came a long series of troubles, — sickness, poverty, inharmony in the home,— which finally brought me to a state of physical and mental collapse — and that with a young baby to look after. In 1903 a dear friend who is a Christian Scientist took us into her home, where I lay helpless for weeks. She provided for our needs and treated me until I became able to help myself in a small degree. Gradually I came to realize that Christian Science is not only the truth, but that it could be demonstrated by me. I had believed in it for years, but it had always seemed to me that few people were really fitted to practise it.
A little over a year ago I asked a practitioner to help me overcome some difficulties which seemed beyond my understanding, and thanks to the truth I am making progress. Every step taken is a definite point gained. The road is not an easy one to travel, but the way gets brighter each day. Sin, want, and disease are becoming less and less real. I do not now regret even the wasted years. My experience may be a warning to others.
I am grateful to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, through whom Christian Science has been given to this age.
