I was merely a child when I first heard of Christian Science. From infancy I was always in delicate health, suffering from throat trouble and nervousness, and continually under the doctor's care. In my ninth year I was attacked with a slight stroke of paralysis, accompanied by a peculiar twitching in my side. A doctor treated me for several weeks, but seeing no improvement he said that he could do nothing for me. An aunt who had been healed through Christian Science then advised my taking treatment.

I was put under the care of a Christian Science practitioner and after six weeks was completely healed. My parents rejoiced at seeing how well I looked; still, like many others, we thought that was all that was necessary. All went well until my twelfth year, when I was attacked with a second stroke, which seemed more severe than the first. My mother, being overcome with fear, wanted to call in a physician, but remembering how little help I had received the first time, I begged them to send for the Christian Science practitioner. This time I experienced a hard struggel; until after five weeks there was no noticeable change, and then I had another stroke. As the practitioner was unable to come, she gave me absent treatment, while my mother read to me. I felt immediate relief. That afternoon a desire to write came to me. I was at first afraid to attempt it, but something prompted me to try. Then, feeling confident that with God's help I could write, I began to copy the 23d Psalm, at first with difficulty, but realizing the guidance of divine Love, all difficulties soon disappeared, and I wrote better than before. Within a few days I was healed. I am now seventeen years of age, and have never since experienced any trouble in this direction.

Many other ailments have been overcome; one of which the doctors had pronounced hereditary and incurable, but in two years of earnest work with God, that also was destroyed. I shall always be thankful to God for this grand truth, and to Mrs. Eddy for the great enlightenment it has brought to me. — Ella Hellmann, New Braunfels, Texas.
