Christian Science came to bless our home in October, 1902. I was suffering from an attack of peritonitis. The previous winter I had been confined to the house from December to April, and I visited the doctor two and three times a week during the summer. The following October I was again obliged to send for the doctor, and he said that unless I had an operation I undoubtedly would have this trouble every time I took cold. I had suffered all day, not being able to keep even a teaspoonful of tea on my stomach, and with the thought of an operation before me it then came to me to try Christian Science. My healing was instantaneous. I sent for a Christian Science practitioner, and just fifteen minutes from the time she came to my room all pain left me, and I have never had any return of that trouble. I have since been treated twice for diphtheria, and both times the trouble was met in twenty-four hours. I have also had rheumatism, which took six weeks to overcome, but never for one moment was I discouraged, for I knew that only fear was holding me. Thanks to God, and to our Leader for "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," which enabled me to prove that God governs all and is an ever-present help.
