For more than thirty years I had been doctoring for...
For more than thirty years I had been doctoring for chronic liver complaint, under the care of seven or eight first-class physicians in the eastern, middle, and western parts of the United States. None of them afforded me anything but temporary relief; the last one told me he could do nothing more for me, that I would never be well again. I then concluded to try Christian Science. I found a practitioner and had treatment. This was a year ago, and now I have no trouble from my liver. Other ailments have also been met, but the physical healing is the smallest part of the benefit received. I was a member for many years of an evangelical church, but was never satisfied with its doctrines; never had any real pleasure in my religion. In Christian Science I found what my religious instincts were longing for. I am a member of The Mother Church, and of First Church here, and the spiritual satisfaction, the joy and comfort which have come to me in my new church relations is almost beyond belief; it is certainly beyond my ability to express in words.
I am very thankful for the privilege of helping others through the understanding gained in Christian Science. Those who have been able to bring relief to their friends, will realize the feeling that comes when one is thus able to invoke the almighty power to heal the afflicted. The joy is almost too great; one feels like taking off his shoes, as if standing on holy ground.
For all the joy and help which Christian Science has been and is to me, and for the help I have been able to bring to others through it, I most humbly thank God. I am also grateful to our dear Leader, who has spent her whole life trying to benefit her fellow-beings, and as we know, has succeeded in her efforts.
