From my earliest recollections I was a sufferer from rheumatism. When a child my shoulder-joints were so affected that I would lie awake night after night, crying with the pain. My parents did all they could for my relief at that time, but I was helped only temporarily, and with the next inclemency of the weather or any slight exposure to night air I would be as badly troubled as ever. This continued all through my girlhood days, the affliction at intervals being very severe, and finally affecting other joints besides my shoulders. I was treated by different physicians during these years, without receiving any permanent help. After I was married my husband took me to an eminent physician for treatment. He said that there was really no permanent help for me, that I had inherited the disease, and that I would never be free from it. I suffered with this trouble at times most severely until April, 1898, when I began the study of Christian Science. Soon after this I was subjected to a very severe attack of my old ailment, and with my slight understanding of Christian Science I resolved to turn to it for help, and did so, with the result that I was fully and completely healed. I slept soundly all night, and awoke in the morning entirely free from pain, and have never had a recurrence of the trouble to this day.
Mrs. Elvie P. Gerry, St. Louis, Mo.
