In reading an article which appeared in the Sentinel I...
In reading an article which appeared in the Sentinel I became conscious that I had failed to acknowledge the healing which had first turned my attention to Christian Science. About four years ago I had a very severe case of iritis, or inflammation of the right eye. My physician ordered me to bed, and said it would be two or three weeks before the crisis would be over. The pain became so intense that morphine was given freely to induce sleep. At the end of three weeks I was able to be around, and was driven to my office in a closed carriage, with head bandaged to keep out the cold. While at the office one of the clerks suggested Christian Science as a sure and permanent remedy. On my way home I called upon a practitioner. I was requested to remove the bandage, and the treatment was given. The following day another treatment was given, and the eye was entirely healed. My physician told me I would most likely have the trouble recur every year at about the same time, but it has never done so. The healing of the trouble, with the attending fear of its regular recurrence, was truly wonderful to me, and it led me to be a constant reader of Science and Health, the Sentinel, and the Journal. For the great spiritual unfoldment which followed, I am truly grateful to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, whose life and works will illumine the pathway for millions in the ages to come. God bless her!—A. A. Wenham, Cleveland, O.
