My little brother, ten years of age, was bitten on the nose by a rat. The sore seemed to heal all right for about a week, after which the doctor said that blood-poisoning had set in, and for three weeks thereafter he was constantly under the doctor's care. He grew worse until finally he was given up by the doctor, and father was advised to take him to Chicago. He lay in bed, unable to move, his face swollen out of shape, his nose drawn to one side, eyes shut, the cords of his neck fearfully swollen, and his face covered with ugly sores.
Father was on the point of having him removed to Chicago to a specialist for such diseases, when it was suggested to him that he first try Christian Science. After much persuasion, he finally consented to give it a trial for three days, although he said he hadn't a particle of faith in it. A Christian Science practitioner was called in that evening and wonderful to relate, Joe was out the next morning and played six games of croquet.
The following morning all the sores on his face had disappeared except one, and that week he went to a neighboring city alone and visited his grandmother.
