Letter from the Executive Members
At the annual meeting of the Executive Members held in the Mother Church, Saturday, June 11, the following letter to Mrs. Eddy was unanimously approved and was forwarded to her by special messenger.
Boston, Mass., June 11, 1904.
To the Rev. Mary Baker G. Eddy, Pleasant View, Concord, N. H.
Beloved Leader, Teacher, and Guide:—We, the Executive Members of the Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Mass., at our annual meeting assembled, send you loving greeting, with ever-deepening gratitude for your tender guidance and care.
We comprehend more clearly the magnitude of the Cause wherein you are our Leader: and understanding better what your mission is accomplishing for the whole world in the way of redemption and blessing, we are more than ever grateful that we have your counsel and admonition.
We welcome the By-laws which appear as needed for our spiritual welfare, and appreciate them as the expression of divine wisdom, which is revealed to you because your only aim is to know and do the will of God, and to establish in Christian Science a demonstrable and spiritual Christianity.
Your continued insistence that healing should be exhibited as the proof of Christian Science, is awakening us, and we now see the wisdom of withdrawing ourselves from relationships which would hamper us in this work.
You have spoken of "Unity, the bond of perfectness, the thousandfold expansion that will engirdle the world." and have designated the exhibition of this among Christian Scientists as "a great sanity." During this year past we have appreciated the arrangements made by your wisdom, so that greater progress into unity is being achieved by us.— so that there again appears "a peculiar people, zealous of good works," to the greater end that the whole world is being leavened by demonstrated Christianity, and its expected millennium is found to be at hand.
By reason of your loving labor, the religion of Christ Jesus is being universally accepted, the sick are healed, love is triumphant, and our hope is that we may learn better how to help you in your heaven-blessed labors for humanity.
