I wish to express my gratitude for the blessings of Christian Science
I wish to express my gratitude for the blessings of Christian Science. Six months ago it was introduced to me by a friend. I was then called a "perfect wreck." I was a victim to almost all the ills that flesh is heir to,—lung and throat trouble, nasal catarrh of about twenty-four years' standing, kidney trouble, and dyspepsia. There were many things I could not eat, and coffee I dared not drink; it always brought on a bilious spell. According to mortal sense, I had lost my voice, I could not speak above a whisper for seven months. I was very kindly cared for by my physician, who was a specialist, but he had no hope of a complete cure. When we had talks on the subject, he said he was doing for me what he would wish any one to do for him,—giving me a chance for my life. I took several kinds of medicine all the time; it was as natural for me to take medicine after each meal as it was to eat the meal, but after this friend had spoken to me of Christian Science, I stopped taking medicine, gave up treatment for my throat, and gave my full attention to the investigation of Christian Science.
I was in Science about two months before taking a treatment, but made some very good demonstrations for myself from reading the Sentinels and Journals. The first demonstration was over weakness. I had been able to walk but a short distance at a time, but I started out to attend the meeting on the second Sunday after having heard where the services were held. I declared the truth,—that God is my strength,—and on arriving at the house I was surprised to note that I was not tired. My strength began to increase from that time on. My next demonstration was over heart trouble, and that was met so quickly I have had no trouble since from climbing stairs, or walking fast. A few weeks ago I ran nearly half a square to catch a car, but felt no bad effect from it. In my case the cure has been slow, but one ailment has disappeared after another through the understanding of divine Truth which makes free indeed. I can work or walk as much as I like, and do not feel weary.
I am reading the Bible and Science and Health every day, and they are my best friends. I thank God, and also Mrs. Eddy, for the light of Truth that has been revealed to us through Christian Science; and not only for the healing but for the spiritual uplifting. I am not entirely cured, according to mortal sense, but I know that as I grow in grace, I Shall reflect perfect health.
