While I did not take up the study of Christian Science...
While I did not take up the study of Christian Science for the purpose of being lifted out of sin, this is exactly what transpired. I was lifted out of sin,—sinful thoughts and deeds. I do not mean to imply by this that I have overcome all sin, but I have been freed from sin to an extent beyond what I thought possible before I knew anything of Christian Science. I have been helped out of many slight physical troubles but they are nothing compared with the good I have received spiritually.
Since attaining some understanding of Christian Science I have proved its power to destroy evil, not only in cases of sickness, but also in discordant conditions of business and in manifestations of jealousy and hate, and as I work all the while for a higher understanding of Truth and Love, this effort is always rewarded by clearer and clearer views.
I would express my gratitude for what Mrs. Eddy has done toward helping me "o'er the hillside steep" (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 397), but mere words fail. It is, however, a source of much pleasure to know that I can express my gratitude by living in accord with her teachings, by following in her footsteps.—C. L. B., Dubuque, Ia.
